Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for managing production efficiently through the direct supervision of the operations team, in order to meet the objectives of the plant, prioritizing SAFETY, QUALITY, SERVICE AND COST. The production Supervisor is responsible for the entire facility during off shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Supervise production and maintenance activities to ensure that products meet or exceed all established quality requirements. Interprets specifications and makes judgments regarding the acceptability of production that is in process. Determines production priorities based on weekly schedules, manages daily assignments.
+ Manages all department-related activities, which include selection, training, reviews, discipline, and safety for assigned staff. Through effective direction, counseling, and training, develop and maintain an effective organization through selection, development, overtime, motivation, and mentoring of all employees. Create IDPs necessary to achieve short and long-range objectives.
+ Provides leadership in assuring employee physical well-being and safety by the development, promotion, and enforcement of an uncompromising safety attitude in both supervision and production employees and good safety practices measured by a safety record that exceeds and leads the industry. Directs the manufacturing activities of all products, including machines, spare parts, buildings & grounds, and repair activities to meet customer schedule commitments within quality and cost objectives.
+ Develop and assign goals and objectives that coincide with the established department goals, holding subordinates accountable for their performance. The incumbent must be a mentor capable of generating enthusiasm from direct reports. The various groups must be encouraged to seek cost-effective design alternatives and processes.
+ Develop and maintain a high degree of technical expertise in the production process. Have an understanding of the system and operation the product is part of, assuring compatibility. Measurement of success includes the measurement of shipment on-time performance, direct labor productivity, world-class quality levels, and leading-edge product cycle times.
+ Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports, and is familiar with Continuous Improvement methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing production process problems. Arranges for Maintenance and Engineering support as needed.
+ Associate's degree in industrial, business, or related field
+ BS Degree preferred
+ Three (3) years of manufacturing experience - Glass Mat, Papers, or Non-Woven Industry preferred
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong computer skills
+ Must possess strong organizational skills, as well as be thorough, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
+ Ability to analyse information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
+ Ability to manage, motivate, maintain a full staff, and develop an effective team. The position is highly visible to all employees, and the incumbent must affect leadership through integrity, knowledge, and personal example.
+ Familiar with Enterprise Reporting systems, SAP EPR preferred.
